Basic information

Upgrading weapons allows you to change their stats. Some upgrades can increase damage while decreasing reach, others can increase reach at the price of stronger returns. Some may add a special effect, such as a multiplied laser beam. Using the upgrade system can even turn an ordinary pistol into a powerful weapon.

To upgrade weapons in Fallout 4, you must use the weapon workbench. Such workbenches are scattered throughout the game world (they can be found in almost every settlement, in abandoned buildings or at gas stations). You can also build them in workshop mode (see the chapter on settlement creation for details).

Important: The type of work environment does not affect the number and type of updates you can make.

How to upgrade weapons

After using the desktop environment, you will see the first screen related to updates.


From here you can:

Choose the weapon that you will upgrade.;

Disassemble weapons to get resources to change the name of the weapon.

After selecting the weapon you want to change, you will see a list of available modifications. The modified part will be marked with a color (green by default). You will also learn how the modification will affect the statistics of the updated tool.

To perform the modification, you must select the update you are interested in and then the "change option".
